The Department’s Placement Policy embeds the legal entitlement for students to enrol at their designated neighbourhood school, and to enrol at another school if there is sufficient accommodation.
All Victorian government schools must manage enrolments in accordance with this Placement Policy, except those schools where the Minister has approved specific entry criteria, being:
The Regional Director has the authority to effect placement of a student.
Right to attend the designated neighbourhood school
Eligible children and young persons have the right to be admitted to their designated neighbourhood school
Eligible children and young persons have the right to be admitted to their designated neighbourhood government school, regardless of capacity.
A student’s designated neighbourhood school is generally the school that is nearest the student’s permanent address as determined by the school zone. The Find my School provides guidance on which school zone a student’s permanent residence is located within.

Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.
The Department provides guidance through the Enrolment: Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

How to enrol:
All our families will have the opportunity to meet one of our Assistant Principals and complete a meet and greet and tour of our school.
We ask that you contact the school on 9743 0633 to make an appointment for a school tour.
Tours are held weekly by our Assistant Principals.

What to bring:
On the day of your tour please bring along any questions you might have, your child/ren you wish to enrol and the following;
Proof of AgeFind your child's birth certificate or passport to prove their age, and that they turn 5 years of age on or before 30 April of the year they commence school. If your child was born overseas, please bring the passport or visa.
Immunisation HistoryLocate your child's Immunisation History Statement that includes the statement 'This child has received all vaccines required by 5 years of age'. Statements can be obtained from any Medicare Office or by logging onto the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register at the Medicare website.
Proof of Address
Drivers’ licence, mortgage or lease agreements can be copied to provide proof of address for the local Kurunjang neighbourhood area.
Other forms required
If your child is diagnosed with asthma or any other medical condition please download the School Asthma Action Plan from the First Aid Policy page, complete the attached Action Plan with your medical practitioner, and include all plans with your enrolment documents.
Any other necessary documentsIf your child / children have shared living arrangements between parents or guardians, complete either the Additional Family, or the Alternative Family form (as appropriate), available from the school.

Time frames
Where possible enrolments for the following school year for Foundation students are requested to be in by end of term 3 for those families already living in the area. Families moving in to the area are asked to contact the school as soon as they have an address to arrange a tour.
FOUNDATION students.
Each year we hold an information evening for families regarding the first year of school, usually held late in term 2, this gives families the opportunity to hear from our Foundation staff and the opportunity to go over what school may look like for your child.
In term 4 all enrolled students are given the opportunity to visit the school during school hours to participate in a series of transition sessions where they will be given the opportunity to experience what school is like and meet the staff and students of KPS.
